World of Words (Simplified Version) -
English vocabulary for the younger learner |

World of Words teaches basic English words and spelling in an enjoyable and extremely
effective way. Based on the concept that visual stimuli reinforce language learning,
this program teaches common English words through 44 topic-based
picture screens, each with its own built-in testing of comprehension and reproduction.
The Simplified Version differs from the complete version in that there are more screens, but each one contains
fewer words and has bigger pictures, making it ideal for younger learners.
Words: Pointing at objects with the mouse brings up labels,
clicking on them allows the learner to hear the words spoken.
Quiz: Comprehension is tested by a "quiz" in which you are asked to find something in the picture, and you have to click on the correct object.
Writing: The writing option tests the user's ability to reproduce the language and spell the words correctly. Some hints will be given if required.
At the end of each session the learner is encouraged to print out a progress report.
